Joanne Milne

It was her strong sense of adventure that led Joanne to leave Scotland and go on an around-the-world trip, but it was meeting her now husband in Vilanculos, Mozambique, that caused her to stay in Africa.  Together, in their “awesome Land Rover” they travelled through Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, around Lake Victoria and back down to the South African Cape through Namibia and Botswana.  They still travel whenever they can taking their two young children with them.

Living with her family in Kommetlie, a quiet coastal suburb on the west coast of Cape Town, Joanne started drawing what she had seen on her travels.  This soon led to her dramatic seascapes, expressing her delight of the sunbirds in her garden and the glorious protea of the Cape.  Joanne welcomes people to visit her studio and participates in Open Studios Kommetjie’ held annually in December.
