FIELD GUIDE TO GALDIOLI

SAUNDERS’ FIELD GUIDE TO GALDIOLI of South Africa

by Rod & Rachel Saunders

Beautifully presented this superb book is the first to offer a complete photographic record of the 166 species of gladioli that occur in South Africa.  This informative guide includes a brief history of gladioli, information about the morphology and taxonomy of the genus, distribution maps, and glossary of terms with illustrations explaining difficult terminology, and over 1,000 exquisite photographs.

Botanists, Rod and Rachel Saunders searched for, found and photographed in full bloom, all but one gladioli species found in South Africa before their untimely deaths at the hands of kidnappers in a forest in KwaZulu-Natal in 2018. Professor of Anthropology at the University of Cape Town, Fiona C Ross, established the Saunders Guide Trust to ensure the important work in compiling this guide that they started before their deaths, was completed.
